Additional Mercer County Blood Drive 7-25-08 [PSA]
An additional blood drive will be held on Friday, July 25, at the American Red Cross Chapter House from 10 AM – 2 PM, located at 909 E. Wayne St. in Celina. All presenting donors will receive a music download card.
If you are at least 17 yrs of age, weigh a minimum of 110 lbs and are in good general health, you may be eligible to donate blood. All donors need to present positive identification. For more info or to schedule you blood donation appt. call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE (1-800-448-3543).
Summer Reading Program 7-31-08 [PSA]
The 2008 Summer Reading Program at the Mercer County Library is winding down-if your child has signed up and not completed the program by reading 10 books, make sure they do so before the end of July to receive their goodie bag! The Boonshoft museum’s program called “The Good, the Bad, and the Bugly” will be held on Monday afternoon July 14th at 1:00 PM. Please call the library for more info at 419-586-4442
Skate Ministry Event 8-2-08 [PSA]
The Celina First Church of God, 850 Fairground Rd, will be hosting a Skate Ministry event on August 2nd 12-6 PM. The Christian Pro-Skateboarding Team “Untitled” will perform and witness at the skate day! The team from Joplin, MO will demo their professional skills, share their testimony, and present the Gospel message. The solid rock band, Harlend, plays at 3:30 PM. Come, Pray, Share. JTDMH CPR Class 8-5-08 [PSA]
Joint Township District Memorial Hospital is offering an Adult and Pediatric Healthcare Provider CPR certification class intended for healthcare professionals who are required to have certification in CPR. This class will address special resuscitation situations, cardiopulmonary emergencies, foreign body airway obstruction, and automated external defibrillation. The class will be offered on Tuesday, August 5 from 12:30 to 4:30 PM. The cost for the class is $50 per person and pre-registration is required in advance as class participation is limited. Babysitting Class August 5 and 6 [PSA]
The Joint Township District Memorial Hospital is once again offering the Super Sitters babysitting training course. The purpose of the program is to prepare sitters for the needs of the children they are caring for. Some topics that are covered include safety, emergency care, child development, and behavior/discipline. Trained hospital personnel do the actual teaching. The focus of the program is on the 5th and 6th grade sitters, but other interested individuals are welcome to attend. The next class will be on August 6 and 7 from 8 AM – 12 PM and will be held in conference room 1 & 2. Pre-registration is required and the cost is $15 per participant which includes a workbook. Please bring a light healthy snack and a beverage will be provided. Class size is limited to 20 registrants. JTDMH Better Breathers Class 8-5-08 [PSA]
Joint Township District Memorial Hospital will be offering a Better Breathers class for persons with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and their families. COPD generally consists of emphysema, chronic bronchitis, asthma or any combination of the three. The program will be held quarterly with the next class held on Tuesday, August 5, from 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. in conference room 1. The class is designed to assist persons with COPD and their families to work as a team in learning about their disease. Education is a necessary component to be successful in managing the disease, reducing the risks of complications, and in living a healthy and happy life. Topics covered include: anatomy/physiology of the disease, pulmonary function testing, medications, nutrition, therapy, and pulmonary rehabilitation. The class instructor will be Stacey Hilgefort, RRT, CPFT. This presentation is free and a family member is also encouraged to attend, pre-registration is not required.
