The Alzheimers Association, Northwest Ohio Chapter, has joined with the Ohio Department on Aging and the Benjamin Rose Institute to implement a free program that will help both individuals with memory problems as well as their family members who are caring for them. This new program is called Reducing Disability in Alzheimers Disease (RDAD). The RDAD Program is designed to help teach older adults who may be suffering from memory problems how to do some simple exercises to improve their overall health. The program also teaches family members about symptoms to watch for and how to care for persons with memory problems. This program hopes to improve the ability of the person with memory problems to carry out activities of daily living while also helping family members provide assistace to their relative. A specially-trained professional will come to the home for fifteen sessions, each session lasting about one hour, to teach exercises to the person wtih memory problem to help improve strength and balance, and trained professionals will also teach family members how to assist their relative with these exercises. Family members will also be asked to keep a record of their relatives' exercise progress and complete three brief surveys about the sessions that will be mailed back to the Benjamin Rose Institute. All information will be kept completely confidential. Participation in this program is completely voluntary, deciding to stop participating in the program will in no way affect any services you receive or may receive from the participating organizations. Artists of high school age and older may request a prospectus by contacting the licrary. The 20th Annual St. Marys Summer Artfest will be held from August 9th through the 16th at the library.

| Sources Community Network Services is announcing the start of the Summer Crisis Cooling Program. The program will begin on July 1st and run through August 31st, 2009, or until funds are depleted. The program is designed to help low income households wtih senior citizens and households with someone who has a medical need for air conditioning. An income eligible household must have someone age 60+ or someone with a medical need verified by a doctor's statement to receive help wtih an electric bill or receive an air conditioner if there is no air conditioning at home. income eligible households are those who are at or below 175% the federal poverty guidelines. For excample, a household of four whose gross annual income is 38,587 or less or a household with one with an annual income of 18,952 is income eligible. This is a one-time per summer assistance. Appointments are strongly recommended. Some things needed to apply are utility bills, proof of household income for the past three months, doctor's statement showing diagnosis, and social security numbers for all household members. There will be an American Red Cross blood drive on Monday, July 6th, at the Galleria from 12 Noon until 6 PM. The Galleria is located at 909 East Wayne Street in Celina. This blood drive is so important because it comes after a holiday weekend. We will not be collecting blood on July 4th, so we need donors from the community to hel us boost our blood supply on Monday. In addition, all presenting donors will have the opportunity to enter a drawing for two Cedar Point tickets, valid for the 2009 season! | 4th of July Powwow to be held in Lima July 4-5, 2009 [PSA] |

The Ohio Native Ancestral Association will present it's 2009 4th of July Powwow at the Allen County Fairgrounds, 2750 Harding Highway in Lima, Ohio, on July 4th-5th, 2009. The gates open at 10AM both days. Indians will be dancing in full regalia starting at 1PM and 6PM on Saturday, and at 1PM on Sunday. There will be native food, arts, crafts, and entertainment. The cost for adults is $5 and for children 6-12 and seniors 62+ is $3. Children under age 5 are free. Parking is available on the site and free. The host hotel is the Holiday Inn, Lima, 419-222-0004. For more information, call 419-228-7141. This powwow is brought to you by the Ohio Native Ancestral Association (ONAA), a non-profit organization, registered wtih the State of Ohio. Profits from the powwow go to help Indian Centers in Ohio, as well as Native Americans on the reservations and other areas with items such as school supplies, books, clothing, and so on.

The St. Henry's Redskin Classic 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Run will take place on Sunday, July 5th, at 9:15AM. Registration is from 7:30AM-8:45AM at St. Henry High School. Pre-registration forms are available at any P.T. Services location, St. Henry Bank, or St. Henry Post Office. Pre-registration costs $8.00, due by June 22nd. The cost the day of the race is $10, with limited T-shirts available for an additional charge. The 1 Mile Fun Run will be $3.00. The 3.1 mile course is routed through the village streets and country roads. The course will start and finish on Columbus Street, near the high school. Awards will be given to the top three overall male and female winners. Medals will be given to the top three places for each division, male and female. The Allen County Chapter of the American Red Cross is offering a Babysitters Class for those ages 11-15. This class, being held at the American Red Cross Chapter House at 610 S Collet St. in Lima, will be conducted by a Red Cross certified instructor. The cost for this class is $40 per participant, which includes a Babysitters Manual and a Babysitters First Aid Kit. This class is pre-registration and pre-pay only, and is limited to the first twenty-five participants. Participants will need to bring a sack lunch and drink wtih them, and will need to be registered and paid for by 3:00PM on Friday, July 10th, 2009.
